Gymnastics shapes

In Year 2 we worked on creating 9 basic shapes with our bodies - straight, star, tuck, dish, arch, front support, back support, straddle and pike. In Year 3 we are perfecting these shapes and using them in rhythmic gymnastics. We are perfecting the shapes by ensuring that we have good body tension, pointed toes and locked joints. 

 

Have a look at some of our shapes and see if you can guess what shape we are showing. 

After perfecting our shapes, we used balls and hoops to create routines in rhythmic gymnastics. This was really tricky but we worked hard to understand movement between shapes and keeping control of objects when moving. Eventually, we have created a symmetrical routine with our partner.
