I have been teaching at Oldway Primary school for many years. When I started here, the school looked very different and I have seen many changes over the years. Most of my teaching has been in year 6, although I have also taught across Key Stage 2. At various times I have been subject leader for: science, history, and RE, although currently I have responsibility for geography across the school.
In my time away from the classroom I enjoy being with my family and we especially like going to the theatre, eating out and travelling abroad. I have a particular passion for books and reading (when I have the time) and walking our two spaniels.
I qualified as a teacher in 1999 and have spent the last 16 years teaching at Oldway! I have taught in Nursery, Year 2 and Year 3.
I have experienced many changes during my time at Oldway and have been part of some exciting new initiatives. This includes the Sports Premium initiative, to ensure high quality teaching and learning in PE and the England-Shanghai National Maths exchange programme, to study the teaching of maths.
I have a personal interest in the Psychology of education and have a psychology diploma. I am the Autism Champion at Oldway Primary. This role involves supporting our pupils and their parents, training staff and raising an awareness and understanding of Autism, to ensure that Oldway continues to be an Autism Friendly school.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my two children and following their sporting and performing pursuits. We enjoy spending time on the beautiful beaches in the Bay and walking on the moors. I also enjoy reading, swimming and going to the gym.
