I started my teaching career 15 years ago at an infant school on a military base in Aldershot, Hampshire. After 2 years my husband and I made the decision to return to our home town of Paignton. Upon my return to Torbay, I spent 6 years teaching Year 1 and Year 2 at Tower House School in Paignton. I then decided that I would like to specialise in teaching children with special educational needs. I made the move to Stover School in Newton Abbot, where I achieved the National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination. I became the SENDCo for Stover School, in addition to being the Reception class teacher. After 5 years I then made the decision to take on a leadership role at Woodwater Academy in Exeter. I spent 2 years as Key Stage 1 Leader and also had responsibility for a class of Year 1 and Year 2 children, all with varying special educational needs and disabilities. I am now very excited to be joining the Oldway team where I will be teaching in the Woodland Den. I am passionate about supporting children with SEN and helping them to thrive both emotionally and academically. This new role will allow me to draw upon my many years experience and along with the fabulous team of support staff, we hope to develop a unique learning environment where the children in our care can flourish.
I enjoy spending my spare time with my husband and our two children, George who is 9 years old and Ava who is 5 years old. We can usually be found walking our dog on Dartmoor or at Goodrington Beach!
