Oldway Primary School

TEACHING ASSISTANT LEVEL 2  (x 3 posts, Temporary for 1 year)

 

Post 1: am only: 8.45am - 1.00pm, Monday to Friday
 
Post 2: pm only: 12.00pm to 3.15pm, Monday to Friday
 
Post 3: full-time: 8.45am - 12.00pm and 1.00 - 3.15pm, Monday to Friday

 

The Trustees of Riviera Education Trust and Governors of Oldway Primary School thank you for your interest in the posts of Level 2 Teaching Assistant at our Outstanding school. The successful candidates to these positions for one year, will be expected to take up post on Monday 3rd September 2018. The temporary contract will cease at the end of the academic year 2019 but there is a possibility of a permanent position after this period, dependent on funding and pupil need.
 
REQUIREMENTS OF THE POST
The Trustees and Governors seek to appoint suitably qualified and experienced teaching assistants to join the school.
 
You will support learning and teaching within a class or year team, delivering exciting, creative and engaging activities under the direction of class teachers that meet the learning needs and interests of pupils. Learning will focus on key skills in English and maths as well as social, emotional and personal development and all areas of the National Curriculum. A key aspect of the role will be providing additional small-group and 1:1 intervention to support children’s learning and progress, developing pupils’ independence, curiosity and resilience, monitoring and assessing pupil progress and reporting on progress to teachers. You will also share responsibility for creating an exciting and stimulating learning environment.
 
Along with a large team of experienced support staff, you will be well-supported by a Year Leader within your team and an Assistant Head within your phase. The Deputy Head is the school’s SENDCO and Designated Safeguarding Lead and there is also a Pastoral Manager who leads the pastoral team.
 
You will benefit from a supportive Induction Programme and will be allocated a professional and pastoral mentor as well as Continuing Professional Development and opportunities to engage in action research through Oldway’s lead school status of Torbay Teaching School Alliance.

SALARY
Salary will be in accordance with National Joint Council (NJC) pay rates.

HR ADMINISTRATOR
 
Salary: Grade D £17681 - £18,672 pro rata
Hours: 25 hours per week, worked Monday - Friday
 
The HR Administrator will work closely with the HR Director to provide a full administrative support function to all schools within the Trust. We are looking for candidates who have strong administration experience backed up by experience, with an eye for detail and accuracy; who preferably have experience of working within an HR environment however, this is not essential.The role will initially be based at Oldway Primary School but come September 2018 the HR service will move to a permanent base within a Torquay school. The successful candidate must be prepared to work at a Torquay school. Occasional travel between the schools within the trust will be expected.

RECEPTIONIST
 
Salary: Grade B £16495 - £16755 pro rata
Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday - Friday 0800 - 1600
 
Oldway Primary School is the founding member of the Riviera Education Trust. We are a successful, oversubscribed and outstanding primary school. Oldway is a large, 3-form entry primary school and nursery in the heart of Paignton, Torbay and also the lead school in the Torbay Teaching School Alliance.
 
The Trust is looking to appoint a School Receptionist working 35 hours per week, 0800 - 1600 across 5 days per week, term time only.
 
The successful candidate will provide a reception and clerical service to the school office and will report to the Senior Administration Manager for the Riviera Trust.
 
The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for those entering the School and will be required to provide a high quality and professional service, with a calm and approachable manner. Previous experience working in a customer facing role would be an advantage but not essential.

SUPPLY TEACHERS
Oldway Primary School as part of the Riviera Primary Academy Trust, is considering applications from suitably qualified persons to fulfil the role of supply teacher.
 
The school is a large primary school based in Paignton with 22 classes and we frequently require supply teachers across all key stages. We pay a fixed sum for all supply work undertaken in our school. The daily rate will be £135, which for mornings or afternoons will be broken down to £75 for morning supply and £60 for afternoon supply. You must be in class in time to receive any handover information, prepare for teaching and take the registration.

 

Supply teachers may be required to cover playground duty if the person they are replacing is rostered on that day. There will be an expectation that any written work done during the day is marked for basic accuracy to inform the class teacher upon their return.

 
All supply teachers will be welcome to attend staff meetings for their own professional development; a copy of the meetings taking place each term will be displayed in the staff room.

MEAL TIME ASSISTANTS

The MTA team are a group of committed staff who support the children at lunchtime in eating and enjoying playtime. The working hours are 1.25 per day, starting salary £8.50 per hour. MTAs receive training throughout the year and many staff go on to become teaching assistants.
