Oldway Primary School
KS2 CLASS TEACHER
TEMPORARY: FIXED TERM (ONE YEAR)

 

The Trustees of Riviera Education Trust and Governors of Oldway Primary School thank you for your interest in the post of Class Teacher at our Outstanding school. The successful candidate to this temporary, fixed termed position for one year, will be expected to take up post on Monday 4th June 2018. It is expected that the role will cease at May half term 2019 but there is a possibility it will be extended to the end of the 
academic year 2019.

 

REQUIREMENTS OF THE POST
The Trustees and Governors seek to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced teacher to join the school in our of our Year 5 classes to cover a fixed term maternity leave of one year.

 

You will lead learning and teaching within a Year 5 class, planning and delivering an exciting, creative and engaging curriculum that meets the needs and interests of all pupils within the class. You will deploy support staff effectively to support, extend and assess pupils’ learning. Learning will focus on key skills in English and maths as well as social, emotional and personal development and all areas of the National Curriculum.

 

A key aspect of the role will be supporting parents in their children’s learning, developing pupils’ independence and curiosity, monitoring and assessing pupil progress and reporting on progress to parents and senior leaders. You will also be responsible for creating an exciting, stimulating and hands-on learning environment for the pupils in your class. There will be transition arrangements to support the handover in responsibility from the current class teacher. You will be also well-supported by a Year Leader within your team and an Assistant Head within
your phase. The Deputy Head is the school’s SENCO and Designated Safeguarding Lead and there is also a Pastoral Manager who leads the pastoral team. You will benefit from a supportive Induction Programme and will be allocated a professional and pastoral mentor as well as Continuing Professional Development and opportunities to engage in action research through Oldway’s lead school status of Torbay Teaching
School Alliance. You will also have the opportunity to join a Subject Development Team where you will contribute to the development of a subject or area of school improvement across the school and have the opportunity to develop leadership skills.

SALARY
Salary will be in accordance with the Teachers Pay Spine, dependant upon qualifications and experience.

SUPPLY TEACHERS
Oldway Primary School as part of the Riviera Primary Academy Trust, is considering applications from suitably qualified persons to fulfil the role of supply teacher.
 
The school is a large primary school based in Paignton with 22 classes and we frequently require supply teachers across all key stages. We pay a fixed sum for all supply work undertaken in our school. The daily rate will be £135, which for mornings or afternoons will be broken down to £75 for morning supply and £60 for afternoon supply. You must be in class in time to receive any handover information, prepare for teaching and take the registration.

 

Supply teachers may be required to cover playground duty if the person they are replacing is rostered on that day. There will be an expectation that any written work done during the day is marked for basic accuracy to inform the class teacher upon their return.

 
All supply teachers will be welcome to attend staff meetings for their own professional development; a copy of the meetings taking place each term will be displayed in the staff room.

MEAL TIME ASSISTANTS

The MTA team are a group of committed staff who support the children at lunchtime in eating and enjoying playtime. The working hours are 1.25 per day, starting salary £7.78 per hour. MTAs receive training throughout the year and many staff go on to become teaching assistants.

Torbay Teaching School Alliance

Torbay Teaching School Alliance has been at the heart of local education since its inception as one of the first Teaching School Alliances in the Country. The Alliance works with both Primary and Secondary Schools across Torbay & Devon.
 
The Alliance is seeking to appoint an experienced Headteacher or Senior Leader who has current Ofsted experience to support school improvement and provide challenge that is crucial to maintaining schools on a secure and credible improvement pathway. The role is part time, initially one day per week with the possibility of increasing to two days per week.
