Oldway Primary School
SENIOR FINANCE OFFICER
Permanent - Part Time
 
THE POST
The successful candidate will be expected to take up this post as soon as possible to ensure training is in place with the existing post holder. This is an excellent opportunity to join a committed team and an academy trust that recently expanded to 3 schools. The Trust vision is: ‘In Partnership to provide excellence for all our children’
 
Hours per week - based on 22 hours per week – 41 weeks per year
 
Daily Hours - Flexible, there will be some scope to access systems from home e.g. during school holidays and to work across 3 or 4 days per week subjecting to meeting work deadlines
 
REQUIREMENTS OF THE POST
This is an ideal opportunity for an individual with strong accountancy skills to join a small dedicated finance team. The successful candidate will undertake key financial tasks and provide support to the Director of Finance and the team.
 
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate the relevant skills backed up by experience, with an eye for detail and accuracy; who preferably have some experience of working with school financial accounting packages. Applicants should be mindful of relating their skills/ qualifications / experience to the person specification when completing their application.
 
The post is primarily based at Oldway School with a requirement to visit other schools and liaise with Heads of School/Senior Trust staff.

 

SALARY
Salary will be pro rata and in accordance with the Riviera Education Trust Pay Policy (£30,756 - £33,136 FTE), note pay award pending 1.4.2019 (FTE £31,371 - £33,799). This post is based on NJC scales/Torbay Grades and is Graded at Scale I (Actual salary £16,463).

CLASS TEACHER – KS1 or KS2

REQUIREMENTS OF THE POST
The Trustees and Governors seek to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced teacher to join our 3-form entry school in our of our KS1 or KS2 classes in a permanent position.

 

You will lead learning and teaching within a KS1 or KS2 class, planning and delivering an exciting, creative and engaging curriculum that meets the needs and interests of all pupils within the class. You will deploy support staff effectively to support, extend and assess pupils’ learning. Learning will focus on key skills in English and maths as well as social, emotional and personal development and all areas of the National Curriculum. A key aspect of the role will be supporting parents in their children’s learning, developing pupils’ independence and curiosity, monitoring and assessing pupil progress and reporting on progress to parents and senior leaders. You will also be responsible for creating an exciting, stimulating and hands-on learning environment for the pupils in your class.

 

You will be also well-supported by a Year Leader within your team and our Assistant Heads. The Deputy Head is the school’s SENDCO and Designated Safeguarding Lead and there is also a Pastoral Manager who leads the pastoral team. You will benefit from a supportive Induction Programme and will be allocated a professional and pastoral mentor as well as Continuing Professional Development and opportunities to engage in action research through Oldway’s lead school status of Torbay Teaching School Alliance. You will also have the opportunity to join a Subject Development Team where you will contribute to the development of a subject or area of school improvement across the school and have the opportunity to develop leadership skills.

SALARY
Salary will be in accordance with the Teachers Pay Spine, dependent upon qualifications and experience.

LEVEL 2 TEACHING ASSISTANT (and possible UQT cover teaching)

Full-time post: 8.45am – 12.00pm and 1.00pm - 3.15pm, Monday to Friday

REQUIREMENTS OF THE POST
The Trustees and Governors seek to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced teaching assistant to join the school.

 

You will support learning and teaching within a class or year team of three classes, delivering exciting, creative and engaging activities under the direction of class teachers that meet the learning needs and interests of pupils. Learning will focus on key skills in English and maths as well as social, emotional and personal development and all areas of the National Curriculum. A key aspect of the role will be providing additional small-group and 1:1 intervention to support children’s learning and progress, developing pupils’ independence, curiosity and resilience, monitoring and assessing pupil progress and reporting on progress to teachers. You will also share responsibility for creating an exciting and stimulating learning environment.

 

For suitable, experienced and qualified candidates, there may also be an opportunity within this role to work as an Unqualified Teacher (UQT). This role involves teaching whole classes, using teachers’ planning to provide short-term cover for teachers’ training, meetings or sickness. Where Teaching Assistants cover classes, they are paid as teachers and this would suit those considering a teacher training route or those seeking challenge and professional development.

SUPPLY TEACHERS
Oldway Primary School as part of the Riviera Primary Academy Trust, is considering applications from suitably qualified persons to fulfil the role of supply teacher.
 
The school is a large primary school based in Paignton with 22 classes and we frequently require supply teachers across all key stages. We pay a fixed sum for all supply work undertaken in our school. The daily rate will be £135, which for mornings or afternoons will be broken down to £75 for morning supply and £60 for afternoon supply. You must be in class in time to receive any handover information, prepare for teaching and take the registration.

 

Supply teachers may be required to cover playground duty if the person they are replacing is rostered on that day. There will be an expectation that any written work done during the day is marked for basic accuracy to inform the class teacher upon their return.

 
All supply teachers will be welcome to attend staff meetings for their own professional development; a copy of the meetings taking place each term will be displayed in the staff room.

MEAL TIME ASSISTANTS

The MTA team are a group of committed staff who support the children at lunchtime in eating and enjoying playtime. The working hours are 1.25 per day, starting salary £8.50 per hour. MTAs receive training throughout the year and many staff go on to become teaching assistants.
