6/7/20 Virtual Sports Day

This week we are holding a 'Virtual Sports Day'. Please find more information on the school website using this link: https://www.oldwayschool.co.uk/vitual-sports-day/

Good luck!

 Welcome back! 1/6/20

 Dear parents/ carers,

A warm welcome back to you all for the second half of the summer term. I hope you enjoyed the glorious weather that we've been having and took some time to enjoy a rest.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for all the effort you have put in to helping your child with their home learning during the pandemic so far. Without your dedication, home learning would simply not be possible so thank you for all of your support.

Home learning for our Year 2 children will continue as it has for the last 8 weeks with home learning tasks set Monday - Thursday and more fun, open-ended tasks available for 'Catch-up Friday'. Spellings tests and MyMaths will also continue to be set each Thursday if you wish to continue with these.

The teachers have loved reading all the children's work so please continue to email this to them using the class email address. We will also continue to call each family every week to talk to you about how home learning is going and answer any questions. If you have any further questions or queries, please contact your child's class teacher using the class email address and they will get back to you as soon as they can.

Thank you for your continued support. Stay safe :)

Mrs Claridge

Home learning update - Friday 1st May

Dear parents/ carers,

As you will have heard from Mr Biddles this week, Friday will now be a 'catch-up' day where you and your child can catch up with any home learning that has been missed this week or do some other more practical home learning such a baking, working on projects etc.

As you will notice, there is a home learning page for today (1/5/20) which is completely optional. This is because the home learning had already been prepared for this week and uploaded to the website and we did not want it to go to waste if parents had already printed it out.

In the future, we will upload some optional tasks on a Friday which can be completed if parents want to, but these will be more practical and creative (just in case you would like something to keep your child busy!) These activities will not be marked or commented on by your child's class teacher but you can still send them a photo if you wish. The exception to this will be Friday 8th May which is a Bank Holiday so there will be no home learning activities set for this day.

If you have any questions, please continue to email your child's class teacher using the class email address and they will get back to you as soon as they can.

Have a lovely weekend!

Mrs Claridge, Mrs Cochrane, Miss Tape & Miss Clarke (trainee teacher)

Home learning books (17/4/20)

Dear parents/ carers,

We are aware that because your children have been busy doing so much learning at home, some parents are finding that their child has almost finished all the pages in their home learning books.

Due to the restrictions of social distancing, unfortunately we are unable to provide you with another exercise book. We apologise for this.

If you would like to purchase another one, there is a link below to Amazon where you can buy one for as little as £2 and can be delivered quickly if you are a 'Prime' member. However, it is completely fine for children to complete their home learning on any paper or in any notebooks that you may have at home.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email your child's class teacher.

Thank you for all your support during this difficult time.

My Maths (optional) 16/4/20

Dear parents/ carers,

If your child would like a bit of extra maths work, we will be uploading new activities to complete on MyMaths every Thursday. These activities are completely optional but hopefully they will be a bit of fun and something that the children can access on their own.

If you are unsure of your child's username or password, please email your child's class teacher using the class email address and they will be able to email one back to you.

Kind regards,

Mrs Claridge, Mrs Cochrane, Miss Tape & Miss Clarke (trainee teacher)

Spellings Tests (optional) 15/4/20

Dear parents/ carers,

This message is just to let you know that the spellings tests that would have been given out are available for you to look at in the Year 2 Home learning section of the website. New tests will be uploaded to the website every Thursday from now on.

If you want to, you could read the sentences aloud to your child so that they can write them in their home learning books. Then use the sentences to mark them. In school we award 1 point for each correct spelling word and an extra 4 points are available for the correct punctuation of the sentences.

Kind regards

Mrs Claridge, Mrs Cochrane and Miss Tape

Welcome back!!

A huge welcome back and happy Easter to all!!! We hope you enjoyed the Easter holiday and the superb sunny weather that we had!

Now that term has resumed, daily home learning pages will continue to be uploaded to this page. If your child would like to complete them in their home learning book and send them back to their class teacher for feedback, we would love to see what they have been learning! (See information below if needed)

If you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to send your child's class teacher an email and they will get back to you as soon as they can. Teachers will also be giving everyone a weekly 'check-in' phone call each week, so if you have anything you would like to chat about, we'd be happy to discuss it.

Take care everyone.

Mrs Claridge, Mrs Cochrane & Miss Tape

Letter to parents regarding Year 2 Home learning 23/3/20

Dear parents/ carers of year 2 children,

This is the place where you will find your child's daily 'Home learning' activities. These activities are designed to be completed in your child's 'Home learning books' which were sent home last week.

Each day, during term time, a new page will be uploaded by no later than 9am. If you would like to complete it, we ask that the children work through these activities over the course of the day and take a photo of their work once finished. If you then send this to your class email address, your child's class teacher would be happy to review the learning that has taken place and provide feedback. We kindly ask that if you are sending work to your child's class teacher that you do this by no later than 3.15pm.

The 'Home learning' pages will be uploaded both as both a Microsoft Word document and as a PDF file so that they can be viewed both on laptops/ computers which have Microsoft software or on a smartphone as a PDF.

The class email addresses are:

Class 13 - oldwayclass13@rivieraet.co.uk

Class 14 - oldwayclass14@rivieraet.co.uk

Class 15 - oldwayclass15@rivieraet.co.uk

We would love to hear your feedback over the coming weeks as to how you feel your child's home learning is going so please let us know via email.

If you have any questions or concerns, please use the class email address to get in contact with your child's class teacher and they will get back to you as soon as they can.

Finally, we have put together a list of useful websites (below home learning) which you can access for free activities for learning but also for fun! We will add to these over time so keep a look out :)

We greatly appreciate all the hard work that you and your children will be giving over the coming weeks during this exceptionally difficult time. Stay safe.

Mrs Claridge and the rest of the year 2 team :)
