Formerly known as Miss Bone (!), I have worked at Oldway since 2003, first as Assistant Head of Years 3 and 4 and then Key Stage One, then as Deputy Head and SENDCo and Designated Safeguarding Lead until taking up post as Head of School from September 2019. I trained at Oldway while at university – and always knew I wanted to come back!
I have a degree in psychology from Cardiff University and specialised in Early Years during my PGCE at Exeter University. My strengths lie in my inclusive practice. It’s very important to me that we support and nurture all aspects of a child’s development and interests and help children to be respectful, responsible, curious and resilient.
I have been supporting trainee teachers and Newly Qualified Teachers for many years, both in my previous school and at Oldway. As a Specialist Leader of Education, I also have responsibility for the induction of NQTs across Torbay - as NQT Lead for Torbay Teaching School Alliance.
Outside of school, I enjoy the cinema, live music, festivals, baking and spending time with family and friends. I also love running and try to keep my training up with a few half marathons a year.
