Summer Term

This term we have had even more fun! So far we have .....

.......been reading the story of Jasper's Beanstalk.

We then talked about how to plant seeds and wrote our own instructions. We then took home our own bean seed to grow at home. I wonder how tall it will grow?

We enjoyed reading and retelling the story of 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' and writing our own stories independently. We also wrote our own Non-Fiction books about the life-cycle of butterfly. We even enjoyed using scarves as wings to pretend that we were changing into butterflies. This week we went on a 'Wiggle Walk' to raise money for the charity 'Action for Children'and raised lots of money - well done everyone!

Look at us wiggling!

We have loved learning about the life-cycle of a butterfly. We watched our very own 'Painted Lady' butterflies change from a caterpillar through to a butterfly - it was like magic and we very excited. We asked lots of questions and found out that a butterfly makes a chrysalis and a moth makes a cocoon. We discovered that the red liquid that comes out of the chrysalis is the waste not blood. We finally found out that a butterflies wings quiver when it is trying to warm its wings up ready to fly!

Here is the story of our butterflies in pictures.

Look at our butterfly hatching!

We had great fun learning about India this week. We read about different traditions and celebrations and then even had our own Indian wedding followed by dancing and a feast. We tried curries, chutneys and poppadoms - they were delicious. We also painted our hands by creating our own Mehndis, made Rangoli art and wrote a postcard to our families - come and read them at open evening in Class 19!

We have been practicing our tricky words inside and outside!

We had great fun on our day out to Pennywell Farm. Next week we will be writing a recount about our trip!

We had such fun but were worn out at the end of the day!
