School Council updates

End of year School Council Pizza Party: 21st July 2025

Today we celebrated the work of our school council.  They joined Mrs Ross (Chair of Governors), Mrs Bamber and Mr Hallett for a pizza party.  It ws lovely to reflect on all the hard work they have done during the year and how much they have helped to shape the changes at Oldway. Thank you to all these pupils for all of their hard work.  You are all superstars!

 May 2024

Our amazing School Council had a great time planting wildflower seeds with Tony and Jo from Oldway Garden Volunteers. This is all part of our new project that involves creating areas around our school that our local community can visit and enjoy. We are also developing our allotment area to start growing healthy food! More exciting updates will follow soon.

Half-termly update: March 2024

We are very proud of our 'Pupil Voice' here at Oldway and our School Council is the heart of this.

At Oldway, our School Council help to represent all the pupils across our school. The School Council, led by Mr Hallett and our wonderful Student Leaders, share information with and from their classes and ask them about a range of issues from how to improve our school to how we can help the wider community. We meet weekly in our fantastic 'Adult Learning Centre' to discuss what we need to be doing as a council.

Over the year so far, we have discussed many things including: aspiration for future careers, lunchtime improvement, selecting potential charities for us to donate to and healthy eating at break times. The School Council were also influential in the changing of our rewards system to House Points.

The big news from the School Council however, is that we have been successful in being allocated funding to develop a gardening area within the school grounds that we hope will benefit not just our school community but our wider community too. More news about this will be coming soon.

We hope you all have a great Easter, from all involved with the School Council.
